Mar 4, 2025

Our new Teardrop Bow template is available in three convenient options to fit your crafting needs:

1. Custom Preprinted Fabric Template

We preprint the template onto one of our fabric bases with your chosen design (or your uploaded design).

2. Printable Download

Print the template at home and use any fabric you have.

3. Predetermined Preprinted Fabric

Purchase our fabric with the template already preprinted on it—the pattern is printed in the exact shape you need to cut out.

Follow these detailed steps to create your very own Teardrop Bow:

Materials Needed:

Teardrop Bow template (choose one of the three options above)

Fabric scissors or a rotary cutter

Sewing machine or needle and thread

Fabric clips or pins

Turning tool (a chopstick, pencil, or similar)

Iron (for pressing, optional)

Hot glue gun (optional—for securing the knot)

Clip or headband (for attaching the bow)

Step 1: Cut Out Your Bow Shape

Using a preprinted fabric template (Options #1 or #3):

Simply cut along the printed outline of the bow.

Using the printable download (Option #2):

Place the printed template on your fabric, trace the bow shape, and then cut it out.

Result:

You should have two identical fabric pieces for the bow.

Step 2: Align the Fabric Pieces

Place the two pieces on top of each other with the patterned (right) sides facing inwards.

Secure the pieces with fabric clips or pins along the edges to keep them aligned.

Step 3: Sew Around the Edge

Sew along the outer edge of the bow pieces using a sewing machine or by hand.

Leave a 1-inch opening in the middle; this opening will be used to flip the bow right side out later.

If sewing by hand, consider using a running stitch or backstitch for extra durability.

Step 4: Turn the Bow Right Side Out

Gently flip the bow through the 1-inch opening so that the patterned (right) side is now facing out.

Use a turning tool (like a chopstick or pencil) to help push out the corners neatly.

Press the bow with an iron on low heat if needed to smooth out wrinkles.

Step 5: Form and Secure the Bow

Hold both ends of the bow and tie them into a loose knot.

Adjust the knot until the bow takes on an even, full shape.

For extra security, you can add a small dot of hot glue inside the knot.

Step 6: Attach the Clip or Headband

For a clip, apply a small amount of hot glue to the back of the bow and firmly press the clip onto it.

If you prefer a headband, glue the bow onto the band securely.

After your Teardrop Bow is complete it is ready to be worn or shared! Feel free to experiment with different fabrics and designs to create a look that is uniquely yours. 🎀
